iPhone Dev-Team 3.0 Jailbreak Update

18 Jun 2009 In: Apple, iPhone

The iPhone Dev-Team has posted an update regarding the 3.0 jailbreak expected later today.

They have been working to resolve two issues with the 3.0 firmware.

1. There are new 3.0 complications with YouTube.app if you’re on a hacktivated (unofficially activated) device
2. There’s a bug in Apple’s new version of asr that our custom IPSW’s are tickling and causing crashes on, on some devices. (For the nerdy or curious among us, the details of that bug were tweeted by planetbeing a month ago.)

* As of Thursday morning we now have a workaround for #2. For #1, we’ll try our best to get it fixed but we may end up releasing a preliminary jailbreak in which YouTube doesn’t work for hacktivated devices, and then follow that up with a more complete jailbreak when we can.

Sony Ericsson W395

sony-ericsson-w395-walkman-slider-phoneThe Sony Ericsson W395is obviously a music-centered device that will cater to the youth since they are those who are most likely to be inclined on music devices. Its stylish looks should also be perfect for those who want a modish design in a music phone.

This is stirred up to be the best walkman phone to date as it comes with special and powerful built-in stereo speakers with stereo widening for high-quality bass, letting users get a feel of a great sound experience. And like any other Walkman devices, this will also have music dedicated keys on the front for easy listening on your favorite songs.

Its Walkman player comes with TrackID and PlayNow which could identify unknown songs and lets users download themes wallpapers and ringtones, respectively. It also has an FM Radio, motion gaming support, stereo Bluetooth, and 2-megapixel camera with video recording and also supports picture blogging. It also boasts 2.0-inch scratch-resistant display of 176 x 220 pixels and 262k colors.

This is a quad-band GSM device that will support GPRS and EDGE connectivity, and will also have 1GB M2 card. The device measures about 96 x 47 x 14.9mm which should fit in every pocket. It is said to come in Blush Titanium and Dusky Grey colors although pricing and release date is not yet known.

sony-ericsson-c903-frances-4With the Mobile World Congress nearing, we get to see more detailed specs of this Sony Ericsson C903 Frances. Obviously, it is a Cyber-Shot phone that will have features more than enough to make it a great camera phone.

But sadly, this will only have 5-megpixel camera which is a little less than the 8MP camera phones we have these days, but then again, 5MP is not bad. This will have 16x digital zoom, autofocus, and a variety of camera techniques such as Face Detection, which could actually locate up to three people on its frame; Smile Shutter, which can detect smile and automatically takes a photo of it; and of course, Geotagging since this phone supports AGPS.

Users can also snap up to nine images in a row and then choose the best among the nine or simply keep everything for additional photos in your album. You could also share your captured moments through its auto-rotating 2.4-inch screen or perhaps on your very own television with its TV out function.

This phone will actually be available in two versions which are the C903 and the C903a, although the only difference of the two is the HSPA of 900/2100 and 850/1900/2100, respectively. This will obviously have 3G data, stereo Bluetooth, NetFront Web Browser, FM Radio, YouTube support and video streaming, and as well as 105MB of internal memory.

This will be available in selected markets around the 2nd quarter of 2009 in Lacquer Black, Techno White and Glamour Red colors. See more of this phone’s specs at the coming MWC 2009.

sony-ericsson-c901-filippaHere we have a detailed look of the once rumored Sony Ericsson C901 Filippa. As everything has already been made official, Sony Ericsson has finally made this available on their website.

This is indeed a Cyber-shot device that will only boast 5-megapixel camera and not 8MP. Although it seems to be a little less on the high-end camera phones, 5MP could already make a decent cybershot device.

And like other of the Cyber-Shot range, this will also have autofocus, and other camera technologies such as Smile Shutter, BestPic, Smart Contrast, Face Detection, PhotoFix and Geotagging. This will also have Xenon flash, which could produce high-quality indoor images, Video Stabilizer, Video Recording, Red Eye reduction, and Video and Picture blogging support.

This handset is a quad-band GSM with support for 3G, Google Maps, and as well as Synchronisation, PictBridge, and Bluetooth technology. It will also have FM radio with RDS, built-in accelerometer, instant messaging, e-mail, video streaming, media player, Speakerphone, and internet capabilities like WAP 2.0, Web Feeds and access NetFront Web Browser. It has a 2.2-inch display with 240 x 320 pixels and 256k colors.

This device will be available on the second quarter of 2009 in Noble Black, Sincere Silver and Precious Peach colors.

sony-ericsson-reeseAnother device has been leaked which is the Sony Ericsson Reese. Now if this phone is true, this is perhaps an innovatively designed Sony Ericsson handset that a lot will either praise or criticize. The photo only shows what seems to be a promo flyer of SE regarding their new handset.

What made this unique and interesting is that it comes in a swivel design which would reveal the full QWERTY keyboard, while the display stays in a portrait position. This is rumoured as not a smartphone device, but simply a handset for those who are addicted to text messaging as this will obviously let users key their messages faster and easier. Plus, the flyer says that this will have a one-click access to social networking sites, which would allow users to keep updated on the latest regarding their friends.

Let’s hope (if this is actually true) that Sony Ericsson will have it in a different color, since the picture shows a dull and old-age feel. Watch out for more of this device’s specs and features as soon as SE officially announced it, which nobody knows when yet.

Samsung Blue Earth

17 Feb 2009 In: Samsung

samsung-blue-earth-cellSamsung has come up with another first with the Samsung Blue Earth. Although the environment is commonly associated with green, this phone will come in blue shade, which is rather stylish and acceptable. A lot of cell phone brands have already come up with the idea of such solar-powered device, but this Blue Earth is the closest to being real.

It has a large solar panel at the back for generating power, plus it is made from an eco-friendly material called the PCM, which is a kind of recycled plastic from water bottles. The design is intended to be flat and rounded, symbolizing a pebble. It will also come with an application called the Eco Walk, which is like a pedometer that tells how much C02 emissions you have saved from walking as represented by trees.

For power management, users can set the device to Eco Mode, which would easily reduce screen brightness, backlight duration, and power going to Bluetooth. The packaging also comes with environment-friendly materials since it is built from recycled papers, and also comes with a 5 star energy efficient charger that if plugged in and not in use, the power consumption drops to 0.03W.

This will perhaps be the only eco-phone that comes in, style as of date.
